On Sunday September 30th I crossed the finish line of my fourth marathon!!!!
I crossed the finish line in 4:59:05; my worst finish time to date, but it was my personal best, becasue it was my first marathon as a mom.
How I managed to train for a full marathon with a 2 1/2 yr old and a baby in tow, can be summed up in two words: team effort. I got a lot of joy from the training, and our family became stronger from the experience. You'll eventually get to read about it...in articles and book form...
The marathon fell on a picture perfect day, the kind of day long distance runners dream about. I ran with my sister, and besides her company I had so many things to be grateful for: my health, my family, and the support of many kind people, including those that put a pledge on the charity I was running for.
Total pledges for The Beaches Lions Club are approximately $3800; plus, we received a third place award of $1000 for our cheering section! Running for this community centre was definitely an honour.
Many thanks to all of you for your interest in me and the Jonathan Ashbridge Community Centre / Beaches Lions Clubhouse .
I send you a sincere and great big thank you hug ;- )

Oasis Neighbourhood Challenge

Wanna have some great, free, fun? Come out and cheer for the runners at The Toronto Waterfront Marathon on Sunday, September 30th. I'll be running the marathon (42.2KM) for the Beach Neighbourhood in support of Jonathan Ashbridge Community Centre Youth Programmes. And yes, there's still time to put a pledge on me!
Scotiabank will have free "Fan Kits" available at every Oasis Neighbourhood Challenge location — thundersticks, pom-poms, cow bells and "clappers"— to make your job extra easy. But please feel free to make and bring your own ingenious noisemakers and signs!
This is a great outdoor festival, celebration and inspiring event. This is one place you can let your kids scream, clap, hop up and down, and use their outdoor voice, FREE!!

adidas' impossible is nothing

The mantra that gets me out the door, running shoes on, no matter what, is the line 'impossible is nothing' from adidas' latest campaign. I also love this question/motivation couplet from the same ad:
what's your impossible?
whatever your goal, you've gotta start somewhere.
Nice eh?!!

spirited neighbourhood challenge!
The marathon I'm training for puts on a neighbourhood challenge which helps raise funds for different charities. Since I'm in the Beach, funds raised will go to The Jonathan Ashbridges Community Centre to help develop further youth programs. I'll keep you posted on how you too can get involved.
