Food porn

Is it just me, or is Nigella Feasts filmed using porno flick stylistics and angles? Maybe this is just a known fact, so forgive my ignorance, I'm new to televised food porn.

'tina torta update: my creation was a hit with me, myself and I. I consumed it pre & post yoga on Saturday morning. It was dense like bread pudding, looked like a pumpkin pie, screamed clementines, and to be honest, reminded me of those slabs after slabs of cheesecake I used to consume. RATING 9/10 - lost one point because the quinoa's granular presence - next time I may have to juice the quinoa or something bizarre like that...

NEXT FOOD EXPERIMENT: I ordered an eggplant in tonight's FDO delivery...now I'm off to fantasize what I'm going to do with it. Hmmm, how perverted does that sound considering this entry's labelled 'food porn'!

Just to clarify, I'm thinking of marinading for a couple of days in a wasabi, lime juice, avocado, sea salt, maybe a drop of molasses, rice vinegar bath, then slow roasting it, and then julienning it into strips for a salad...

Not just you! And to boot, Giada de Laurentis' show is a compelte rip off of Nigella's. (The camera angles, finger licking, etc)

Hi! I've been reading your blog for a few posts now and had to come back to see about the tangerine "something" from the last entry. Interesting as I here the little details leak.... a quinoa tangerine-ish cheescake thing. Interesting thought. Staying tuned for the fantasy of eggplant.

I don't know much about porno flick stylistics and angles, but I do think that Nigella's new show is much more "sexed-up" than her past shows. I think she is a beutiful woman, but I don't like how much they now promote and push her as such. It was much better when her beauty took a more subtle undertone to her cooking and show.

I don't quite understand it all. Their core audience is and always will be women...right? So, is this the right approach?

I used to love Nigella. Then I became vegan, so I wanted to not love her. But, I just can't help myself, I really do love her. She seems so much more authentic than, say, Giada (I agree with UV that Giada is a Nigella rip-off) or, horrors, Rachael Ray. So I watch Nigella, although I have to snort and giggle when things get a little too porn-y, as you put it!

Hi urban vegan: I only started watching the food channel this past year. Still analyzing and learning. I took a few linguistics courses in university, still trying to figure out what it is about the way Giada pronounces her words that makes me crazy.

Hi Dori! we were supposed to have sushi for dinner, but plans have changed, so we'll be cooking the eggplant tonight! Tomorrow's post will be the conclusion...stay tuned!

Megan, I must confess. I too don't know much about porn, and since I'm new to food tv, am not familiar with her past shows. Will have to see about getting some archived shows.

Bazu, I know about not being able to help yourself, I feel that way about Paula Deen. I think she's adorable, even though she adores butter. My crush on her grew after I saw a bio, some chefology show or something like that.

You, Urban Vegan and I should get together and discuss Giada in person...I'm thinking of heading to NYC in March.
