AN URBAN MAMA'S TAKE ON NURTURING HER FAMILY

al dente

This post's title should be Devil Inside.

First, Village Papa asks Village Son if he wants to go to Moti Mahal for dinner. Village Son refuses because last time we were there the A/C was cranked so high we had to leave. Then Village Papa asks me what we should do. I look at the clock, it's 7:35ish, so I race up the stairs, google Murphy's Law. Their menu includes veggie burgers and home-cut fries, so I call them and ask if kids are permitted. 'Yes, until 9pm'. So I sprint /just about throw myself down the stairs and gleefully relay the info. Village Papa says something about it being too dark, and we should go another time - when we can sit on the patio.

Now, my taste buds are on overdrive, salivating between pakoras, french fries, and a luscious frothy pint.

Fortunately, Village Son is already wearing his pj bottoms, and Village Daughter has wandered over to the fridge and pulled out two yogurts. I slowly make my way to the kitchen, take a big gulp of wine, and begin 'the cupboards-fridge-peek'...we stay home. THE END.

KIDS' DINNER
De Cecco Spinach Linguine, no. 7 - no sauce, just super salty - they love potato chip salty

JR. DESSERT
green and red grapes
ice cream with sprinkles

PAPA AND MAMA'S DINNER
heated up last night's leftovers in the oven; leftover rice pasta needs lots of moisture to unharden, so I added lots of olive oil, pesto/kale sauce, and generous snow fall of fresh grated romano

SR. DESSERT
chocolate
sun drops

And you?

I was throwing up all day so the kids had a smorgasbord. Grapes, toasted english muffins, chips, peas, taquitos, milk, and juice.

Jamie, your kids sure know how to put on a smorgasborg. Feel better. What are taquitos?

Taquitos are corn or flour tortillas rolled up super skinny with various fillings inside. We make our own sometimes, but sometimes I get El Monterey brand Chicken and Cheese. http://www.elmonterey.com/mexicanfood/taquitos/
