AN URBAN MAMA'S TAKE ON NURTURING HER FAMILY

summertime! not really... :-)

I've washed the bedding for 2 of our 3 beds; talked to a delightful friend who I've known for almost 15 years; blared Dave Matthews; made a double batch of maple syrup pancakes for our lunch time party; and after the party I will tow the kids home via sled. Today I swore that I would not complain about winter, about the endless snow and cold [winter: you are gorgeous, but you are a tough cookie]. Arggh. Instead I've pretended it's summertime, at least in my head and heart, and you know what, it's turned into a great morning. This afternoon we will set up the tent, make popcorn and talk about camping, and possibly start booking our camping trips!

What are you and yours doing to chase the February blues away? First five comments today will get their name put in twice for the upcoming draw. XO

Ugh. The winter. I have to tell myself positive things too, like "wow! It's SO beautiful outside!" But with a new baby and everything, the last thing I want to do is go outside. If we had a backyard I would totally be bundling up the kids and sending them out everyday to play.

To chase away the winter blues, I take a book, and we make it come alive by making a theme of the day. So our meals and snacks, our activities, our stories are all centered around the same thing. The time goes by faster if the kids are "helping" me cook, etc. I found a website that lists everyday of the year and what to celebrate. It's really random and funny, but there's national snuggle day, bean day, etc. We do a lot of those things too. I'm planning on doing a post about it soon.

We are making secret plans to ditch Canada for the next couple of years. Take that, winter!
