Jr Cookie Monster turned 2 yesterday! All weekend it was about making it special for him. Here's a mini photo essay of the fun that was had.
Lower left corner reveals my well-loved copy of Vive Le Vegan! ready to help me with a double birthday batch of Homestyle Chocolate Chip Cokkies. On the table you see everything but the star ingrediet: maple syrup! No time to dash to the supermarket. Grrrr!! I'm the self-proclaimed queen of substitutions, but sadly, they don't always work. Read on to learn why...
In the forground, the one and only ice cream/cookie dough scoop (from IKEA). In the background, cookies ready to be baked. LESSON LEARNT: do not, I repeat, do not use agave nectar in place of maple syrup, your cookies will be a tad hard to chew and too syrupy sweet. Still, people ate them.
We took our little man to Riverdale Farm for his actual birthday. It's uber family friendly, free, and the gift shop is so reasonable!

Happy birthday to your son! And thank you for the maple syrup/agave warning. I really didn't think maple made that much of a crucial difference in texture!
Cute animals- I want to hug them all...
